Innovation day!

Helloooooooo! it’s me, your favourite blogger! 🥰

Today, I will be talking about innovation day. So, if you don’t know what innovation day is, it is basically a project kind of like the STEAM fair. It’s a science project. Me and my friend, Callie are doing a project on wind energy. We had to make a play structure more fun, but only using wind energy (environmentally friendly energy) such as wind or solar energy. The way we are adding wind energy in is by putting in a wind turbine connected to an air conditioner that’s in a little room for the parents to sit while looking at their kids playing. there will be lots of windows so that it will be safe for the kids while playing and the parents won’t be bored/cold/hot while waiting for their kids.

Here is a link to the web site we made the project on. Floorpaner.
We are adding energy to our park because lots of the parks that are using energy aren’t using renewable energy but the type of energy that hurts the environment. The purpose of this is to help the environment and stop pollution from this type of energy.
Here are a few fun facts about wind energy:
1.Wind turbines are usually not placed by themselves but in groups called “wind farms”.
2.The gear in the back of the turbine is what creates the electricity.
3.From every single turbine installed comes about 250 watts of electricity
4.In 2012 – for the first time ever – more electricity was generated in Ontario using wind than coal.

Bye!

MATTER-project

Aloha! It’s me, your favorite scientist blogger.😊👩🏻‍🔬

In GS, (general studies) we did a project. It was called What’s the matter in our world? we each had to choose                                              between four different topics: Melting ice caps, oil tanks, deforestation and plastic pollution. I chose melting ice caps because                            it was the one that meant the most to me because I don’t want seals, polar bears and walruses to die.                                                                          Here is a little video to introduce melting ice caps.

here is a cool website that counts the melting of ice caps.

We all made media text and I made a ‘commercial’. Here is mine.

I really loved this project because we get to help all of these issues and it makes other people aware of this, too.

I could get really creative and just do it in my own way.

Why are ice caps melting?

Melting ice caps, (AKA glaciers) Are melting because of global warming.                                                                                                                            Global warming is affecting the temperature of the Arctic  and melting the glaciers.

What animals are endangered?

Animals like polar bears and walruses are under threat of extinction.                                                                                                                                  If this problem isn’t solved soon, We might lose them forever.

Thank you for reading my blog!

June 10th, 2020 compared to NOW

Hellooooo, it is me once again.😋

okay, so I have been blogging for a pretty long time now. So if we look at this blog, and then we look at this blog,

There is a small difference. My writing has improved, I am using better words and you can tell I have a little bit more experience. So my writing HAS improved. I started blogging In grade 4 and I am in grade 5, right now. So it hasn’t been a LONG time since I wrote my first blog, but it’s been some time. FUN FACT: My first blog was actually my speech, from grade 4, and, SPOILER ALERT: It was about my rhythmic gymnastics story. As you may know, I LOVE contortion. If you read that blog, you will get to know ALL of my annoying, weird and fun journey.

So, in conclusion… I write better than last year.
